Neroli Citrus aurantium amara
The bitter orange tree, botanically known as Citrus aurantium amara, belongs to the rue family (Rutaceae) and grows in sunny regions of the world, particularly in Italy and North Africa. The bitter orange tree grows up to 10 meters tall, has glossy, dark green leaves, white blossoms, and small, round, juicy fruits. The essential oil of neroli is obtained through steam distillation of the blossoms and is characterized by its floral, fresh, sweet, and slightly tart fragrance.
