4 tips for a healthy scalp
March 20, 2025
Do you have problems with your scalp, whether it's dry, gets oily too quickly, or is prone to dandruff? A healthy scalp is characterized by good blood circulation, an intact microbiome, and balanced sebum production. It not only plays a central role in beautiful hair but also influences our overall well-being.
Professional tips for a healthy scalp from farfalla natural hairdresser Mathias
Tip 1: Be sure to use a mild shampoo.
In general, certified natural cosmetic shampoos rely on mild, plant-based surfactants that do not irritate the scalp – the crucial point. Farfalla Haircare combines two very mild surfactants from coconut and sugar with tried-and-tested essential oils such as rosemary and ginger, and modern natural cosmetic ingredients like bioflavonoids to naturally strengthen and nourish the scalp. For all hair and scalp types, the shampoo should be gently massaged in to promote blood circulation during washing. Polymerized glycerin, a purely plant-based active ingredient in the shampoos and leave-in conditioner, has highly nourishing and moisturizing properties and also supports the skin microbiome.
Tip 2: Don't wash your hair too often
Frequent hair washing can dry out the scalp and disrupt the natural sebum production. Therefore, it is recommended to wash your hair only every two to three days to keep the scalp balanced.
Tip 3: Avoid hot water and hairdryer heat
When washing your hair, the water shouldn't be too hot, as this can dry out the scalp. The same applies to blow-drying your hair – too high a temperature can damage the scalp and hair. Lukewarm water and a moderate blow-dryer temperature are ideal.

Tip 4: Use a suitable scalp tonic.
Regular use of a scalp tonic helps supply the scalp with active ingredients and improve blood circulation. The "Vitality & Volume" hair tonic with bioflavonoids and ginger oil strengthens the hair roots, while the Nutri Repair Oil Serum with argan and juniper oils nourishes both dry, itchy scalps and damaged hair ends. The anti-dandruff scalp tonic with rosemary essential oil is ideal for oily scalps, but should only be applied gently and not massaged in to avoid stimulating sebum production after shampooing.

Mathias' tip: Mix & Match
"What I really like about farfalla Hair Care is its focus on a healthy scalp. The Mix&Match principle gives me total flexibility. For example, if I have colored hair and am prone to dandruff, I can use the Nutri Repair Shampoo and then the Anti-Dandruff Tonic after washing my hair."
